Representative Morales’ grandfather Felix H. Morales came to Houston and began a family tradition of community building. Seeing a need for dignified burials for Latino families he founded Morales Funeral Home. With no Spanish-language radio in Houston, Mr. Morales saw another need and opened Radio Station KLVL, La Voz Latina, the first Spanish-language radio station to cover news for the Gulf Coast. This is where Christina learned to view the community as her family and soon built her own institutions in the community.
At 23, after the death of her grandmother, Christina took over the funeral home. She would form long-lasting bonds with families she consoled in their darkest hour. She didn’t just provide a service for families, she befriended them and…
